Natasha & Deashia-Lei Chang started their farm in April 2020.  Both of them had very little knowledge of farming when they began, but wanted to find a way to build a relationship with their `āina and help educate other people in the community that farming and living sustainable can be possible for anybody.  Natasha & Deashia have no intention of becoming commercial farmers, but identify as "backyard farmers" who learn as they go and want to share what knowledge they gain with the community. Natasha Chang is the grand-daughter of David "Duck" Chang and the great-grand daughter of Ying `A`ana Chang and Hattie Kukahiko.  Natasha was raised and continues to reside on one of the last family properties in Mākena along with her wife, son, and and parents.   Both Natasha and Deashia have full-time jobs and farm after work or on the weekends as a hobby that they have grown to love. The farm they created is to help the community build connections in a place that many locals were pushed out of due to tourism and luxurious real estate.  Chang Farms is here to empower the local community to learn how to farm and participate in cultural activities without the pressure and judgement of others.

Chang Farms grows loofah and sells whole loofah scrubbers and loofah soaps that are handmade in Mākena.

Chang Farms also grows some kalo and occasionally have pop-ups selling their hand-pounded Pa`i `Ai Sundaes.  Follow us on Instagram for notifications of Pa`i `Ai Sundae Pop-Ups!
